■…2002年 1月 4日 (Fri).......He was here!!!

We didn't know "HE" was in Merida when we decided to travel to Mexico. His name is HIDEYO NOGUCHI. We found it in "Chikyu-no-Arukikata" and have decided to see the statue of him in O'HORAN hospital where he had been for his studies. Yesterday we occasionally drove besides this hospital， we knew where it was. When we arrived there， we tried to find the statue...， but we couldn't since the hospital was very big. Then I asked a guy wearing white clothes(a kind of uniform?) in Spanish. And of course， he kindly taught us in Spanish. I couldn't understand what he said but could guess with his gestures. He told us it was in the building， so we were looking for it in the hospital， but we did't. Then we asked another woman in the hospital， and she indicated outside the hospital in her gestures. We walked around where she indicated but no statue was there. We felt scary because， as you know， we had got into trouble when we were looking for a museum in Mexico city... Then!!! one old guy talked to us in English! "Can you speak English?" I thought about so many things before I answered YES since a guy who talk to us in English or Japanese is Suspicious! He asked us what we were looking for， and I answered about Hideyo Noguchi. He told me to follow him. We had nothing to do at that time， so we had to... He took us inside the building which is NOT a hospital and not so many people were there. DID I DO IT AGAIN? But He was there showing his back to us. The statue was in the yard of this building and stood towards the pavement besides the hospital. We were pleased and also scared. I was a little bit giving up and put my hand in the pocket to get my wallet. But then， He left there with the gesture "I need NOTHING". We thanked him and realized There was a kind man in Mexico! [TO ALL OF YOU] Do NOT do the same thing when you are in Mexico. It is TOO dangerous. メキシコ旅行を決めたとき、彼のことなんて思い出しもしなかった。 彼とは誰か。我が偉大な日本人。ひでよ　のぐちのことである． 　僕らは我がひでよの情報を"Chikyu-no-Arukikata"で入手した。そりゃ会わなきゃ日本人がすたるってもんよ。 せめて像だけでもいい。いとしのひでよ　のぐちよ。何と彼はこのメキシコの地、O'HORAN病院で研究してたらしい。 いつも近くをドライブしてたので病院の位置だけは知ってたのさ。 　さてさて、像を見つけなければ。といいつつ、何て広さなんだ、この病院は。仕方ない。白衣（制服か?）をきいた彼に尋ねてみよう。 まずはスペイン語で。おおっ。何て優しいんだ。 スペイン語にスペイン語で返してくれるなんて。 ごめんよ。せっかく教えてくれたのに、 ジェスチャーしかわかんなかったよ。 　 　ひでよがそのビルの中にいることは分かった しかし、早速探すも手がかりなし。よし。今度は白衣の天使にすがってみよう。天使は黙って病院の外を指差した・・・ 　僕らは天使のお告げ通りに動き回った。そしてひでよは未だ姿を現せず・・・。そして僕らの胸の中にはメキシコでの美術館探しの悪夢が横切る。 ああ。一抹の不安。。。 　すると！！！僕らに英語で話しかけてくるじいちゃんが! 　「英語大丈夫？」　 　 　さて、素直に「YES」といっていいものか。ここメキシコの地で英語or日本語で話しかけてくる人物には要注意だしなあぁ･･･ 　じいちゃんに言われるまま、僕らが着いた先は、病院ではなかった。それは、人影もまばらな一角だった。 　さぁ、悪夢が再び襲ってくるのか?? 　僕らのひでよはこちらに背を向けて立っていた。ひでよ像は病院に面し、ご丁寧にもこの建物の庭に立っていらっしゃったのだ。 そりゃ、嬉しいが、このまま済むものだろうか。わきあがる恐怖。背に腹は変えられない。恐る恐る財布に手を伸ばす俺・・・ 　しかしそのとき 　「そんなもの俺には必要ないのさ」 とでも言うかのようにじいちゃんは静かに立ち去ったのだ! 　感謝と同時に気付いたよ。 　　メキシコには男気のある奴もいたのだなぁ・・・ 　[みなみなさま] 　メキシコにいらしたときはくれぐれもこんなことされませんように。危なすぎです。 これはながのひさこの妹の力作（？！）です。 何故妹がっ？それは私がこんな長文を訳す気力がないから・・・・・ （ながの　ひさこ） No(21) ミラ > ちょっとだけ・・・。ずっと野口ヒデオだと思ってた・・・（恥）   ..2002/01/08(Tue) 16:00 (25) ながの　ひさこ > いや読み方はひでおかも知れないんです、妹ともそれで大バトル！ううむどっちなんでしょね？   ..2002/01/08(Tue) 18:37 (28) 森イチロー > 広辞苑で調べましたが、「ヒデヨ」ですよ。   ..2002/01/09(Wed) 15:52 (35)
